A hall in Zwolle usually means a fixed hire fee plus a compulsory minimum spend at the bar. On a boat the bill is simpler: an hourly rate for the whole sloop, or a price per person if you want a package with drinks included.
The sloop seats thirty people: twenty-four seated and six standing. That covers most of the parties for which people would normally hire a small hall — a birthday, drinks, a small company party.
What a boat is not: a place to linger all evening. You sail for one to five hours and then it is over. For some groups that is a drawback, for most it is an advantage — the party has a beginning and an end built in.

Which parties this works for
Birthdays and anniversaries of ten to thirty people. Larger does not fit on one boat, although for more than thirty guests we can have small electric tenders sail along at € 50,- per hour per boat.
Drinks and company parties where people need to talk to each other. On a boat of thirty that happens naturally as one group, whereas a hall quickly splits into clusters.
Parties for which no hall is available at the weekend, or where the hall hire is out of proportion to the size of the group.
What works less well: a dance party. There is no dance floor and on a moving boat everyone stays seated.
Practical points beforehand
The boarding point is the Harm Smeengekade in Zwolle. There is no dedicated car park; point your guests to the parking garages in the city centre.
There is no toilet on board. For a trip of two hours or more that is worth mentioning to your guests in advance, or we agree a short stop.
There is no galley on board. Everything you eat arrives ready to serve, and there is no table: food is eaten on your lap. That is why pizzas and a sharing platter work and an elaborate dinner does not.
We sail in poor weather too. The sloop has a canopy, but it remains an open boat — dress for the weather.
How to plan it
- Determine the number of guests. Above thirty, tenders sail along.
- Choose between plain hire by the hour or a package per person with drinks.
- Choose the duration: one and a half to two hours is the most common for a party.
- Tell us whether you are bringing your own food and whether there will be decorations on board.
